This portrait grew from an exploration of light, value, and pattern, using a limited palette centered around gold, black, and warm flesh tones. I was interested in the relationship between the figure and the decorative elements of the veil, as well as the contrast between luminous and shadowed passages. Drawing inspiration from historical portraiture and sacred imagery, I focused on creating a balance between strong design, quiet expression, and painterly surface quality. The interplay of rich darkness and glowing light creates a timeless atmosphere, inviting viewers into a space of contemplation and wonder.
